Laurel Shimasaki is event coordinator for the College of Communication. In collaboration with students, faculty, and staff, she is responsible for producing events that enhance the CMN community. 

After earning a BA in literary studies from The New School - Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, Laurel published fiction, essays, articles, and reviews as a freelance writer while building on-the-ground experience in the New Orleans hospitality and events industry ranging from planning, coordination, office administration, and venue management for weddings, conferences, concerts, corporate events, and more. ​​
